Katie came up with the idea for the Napoleon Hill River Club in 2022 in response to an unfortunate incident the year before.Although most people on the River are very polite and friendly, both Katie and Niles would sometimes experience hostile reactions from visitors while trying to enjoy a day of peace and fishing on their own property. No trespassing signs were consistently ignored and often physically removed. When the owners asked for privacy or for others to refrain from playing music on the lot, they were sometimes met with refusal and hostility. In 2021 Niles suffered a head injury after he was assaulted by trespassers. They had gone through his personal belongings and told him that he had no authority to ask them to leave. Katie came up with the idea of a private club to unite the good citizens of the river in keeping the experience safe and respectful for all who want to enjoy it together. As members we can all look after each other and make sure there is never an incident like the one Niles had to endure. As long as it is a private club and private property, we should all be able to monitor who is there and when and why.
